Arianna is a coffee table inspired by the homonymous labyrinth created by the artist Italo Lanfredini, a sculptor who celebrates nature and tradition with his works. It was created thanks to the Sicilian patron Antonio Presti between 1988 and 1989. A work suspended out of time, where the millenary myths of Magna Graecia are combined with contemporary art, which rises among the mountain near to Castel di Lucio (Messina). This labyrinth is part of the “Fiumara d’arte”, a vast exhibition park as well as a real open-air museum that containsll works by different artists. Characterized by its particular spiral shape, the labyrinth seems to have existed since the beginning of time, as ancient as the Greek myth from which it takes its name. The labyrinth is modeled by the sun, water and wind, and by every visitor who wants to leave a mark of his passage. In this way the work becomes a part of us. The peculiarity of the labyrinth is that there are no blind alleys or any crossroads, it is a single path: it represents a path of research in the depth of oneself. At the end of the path there is an evocative arch that symbolizes rebirth. Arianna consists of a wooden top covered with inlay veneers, to recreate the design of the labyrinth. It develops on two different heights like the union of two different parts that match, creating a complementary combination of the different shades of woods. The idea aims to represent the past and the present and the change that characterizes the connection between the tw historical times. The metal support structure derives from a game of subtractions and associations of sheet metal circular arcs, arranged at different heights, to take up the importance of the circular shapes that characterize the entire project. The collection consists of five variants: • Eucalyptus Pomele and Madrona Radica, in combination with Satin Bronze or Polished Chrome finish; • Platano Maglie or Taba frise, in combination with a glossy chrome finish; • Eucaliptus Pomele and Eucaliptus frise, in combination with satin Bronze finish; • Eucalyptus Pomele and Acero frise, in combination with a glossy chrome finish.
