History of the Place Seat of the Italian Cultural Institute of Vienna, Sternberg Palace was built in 1821-22 by the architect Karl Ehmann. In the following years of the Second World War, in addition to the restoration necessitated by damage caused by war, in 1967 it was built a new space at the ground floor which nowadays houses the classrooms for language courses and a multipurpose room with about 250 seats. Despite its troubled history, the Sternberg Palace is still considered an outstanding example of suburban Viennese palace of the first half of 19th century. Purpuses and activitiesIn its two offices in Vienna and Innsbruck, the Italian Cultural Institute is the principal agent for the development of the Cultural Agreement between Italy and Austria and its three-year Cultural Plans. It is an autonomous institution connected with the General Directorate of Cultural Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Rome and with the Embassy of Italy in Vienna, to which it serves also as Cultural Office. In this dual role, the Italian Institute of Culture has as first aim to assist and promote any event that has reference with the Italian culture and its relations with the hosting country, whether the event takes place inside the same Institute or in any other place in Austria and also collaborating with other institutions.COLLECTIVE EXHIBITION Collective exhibition of selected artists from 12 to 26 April 2010PhotoGALLERY
