The poetic end result of this dance between mothers and daughters exposes particular intimacies of their relationships.
CHIARA BORTOLI (Vicenza, Italy 1966) moved from contemporary dance to other practices and contexts overlapping with visual arts.
After 12 years of experience in dance companies in France (Andy De Groat, Philippe Découfflé, Fattoumi-Lamoureux, Bernardo Montet, Gladys Sanchez), she settled back in Vicenza in 1998 starting her own research on body, movement and performance.
In 2005 she founded the group Jennifer rosa, which is now developing in the direction of a collective thanks to the collaboration with artists coming from different artistic backgrounds. The human figure, the presence, the time of being are the main themes of a research that articulates itself through performances, videos, installations and photography.
The most significant collaboration is with video maker Fiorenzo Zancan, Chiara’s husband. Together they have produced several works, both personally and in the context of Jennifer rosa.
The works of Jennifer rosa have been presented at festivals, events and exhibitions in Italy and France (among others: Opera Estate Festival 2006/Bassano del Grappa, Festival Lavori in pelle 2006/Alfonsine, Festival Ammutinamenti 2006/Ravenna, Jarach Gallery/Venezia 2007, Museo Casa Bianca/Malo 2007, SPAC/Udine-Buttrio 2007, Centre Point Ephémère/Parigi 2008, Domaine de Tizé/Rennes 2009, Esposizione Walking/Venezia 2010, Biennale danza 2010/Venezia).
In 2009 the project of serial video photography “E14” won the international competition “Vista su E14” by Reiss Art Performative of Turin. In 2010 the video “Francesche” won the Prize for Independent Productions at the competition “Il coreografo elettonico” of Naples. In 2010 the performance “OFF SHORE_lato b” was selected for the event “Marathon of the Unexpected”, a new section of the 7th International Festival of Contemporary Dance of the Biennale of Venice dedicated to the most experimental experiences in the field of contemporary dance.
