What is the purpose of the Special Prize?
The award will be assigned to the best project for an innovative artistic tour of the Telecom Italia Centre of Venice. The purpose is to find an innovative project for the fruition by the public of the spaces of the ex-convent of San Salvador; a project to tell the history, the art and the architecture of the spaces and to promote the knowledge of this place and its value through past and future.

...........................................................................................................

Which spaces can be used for the project?
You can use at the ground floor the two cloisters, the expositive space called “virtual corridor” and the cavana , the old water door accessible going down few steps from the second cloister; at the mezzanine, going up a short staircase, you can reach the lobby chapter and the refectory with its frescoed vault, presently used as multimedia meeting hall.
Here the maps of the spaces >>>

...........................................................................................................

What about the measures of the spaces?
First cloister: covered space 18,5 x 14,75 meters, side walls height 15 meters, perimetral cloister width 3,2 meters; vaulted ceiling height min.4,8 meters – max. 5,75 meters.
Second cloister: covered space 29,42x18,59 meters, side walls height 15 meters, perimetral cloister width 3,23 meters; vaulted ceiling min.4,80 meters – max. 5,75 meters.
Expositive space “Virtual corridor”: 15,62 x 3,69 meters, heigth approximately 5,75 meters
Cavana: width 5,56 x 8,63 meters; height min 2,35 - max 2,54 meters
Refectory: length 25,35 total width 8,88 meters -  central corridor 3,5 meters; vaulted ceiling height min 6,50 - max 8,50 meters
Chapter lobby: width 6,67 x 10,42 meters; height 8,10 meters
Measures are also written in the maps >>>

...........................................................................................................

Is it possible to drill the walls and the ceilings?
No, you can use only standing alone structures.

...........................................................................................................

Is it possible to make structural works?
You have to bear in mind that the palace is under the supervision of the government department responsible for the environment and historical buildings, so you cannot demolish or make invasive structural works.

...........................................................................................................

Is it possible for painters, sculptors, photographers, etc. to participate as well?
Yes, anybody can submit a creative idea for the innovative fruition of the spaces.

...........................................................................................................

Can I apply with an artwork already made or enrolled to Arte Laguna Prize?
This special prize requires the submission of a project, so you will have to adapt your idea for the spaces of the contest: the Future Centre palace. You can choose which spaces use (one or more) and which topic analyze: the history of San Salvador complex, its functional and structural changes, the water of the Cavana, etc…
Artworks could be integrated in the spaces only if they respond to these requirements.
