ART. 1 – Goal
The Italian Cultural Association MoCA (Modern Contemporary Art), in cooperation with Arte Laguna, organizes the Fourth International Art Prize “Arte Laguna”, directed to the promotion and valorization of the contemporary art.
The Prize is organized under the patronage of the Foreign Office, Region of Veneto, Province of Treviso, Province of Venice, Municipality of Venice, Municipality of Mogliano Veneto, Venetian Ca’ Foscari University, Ascom of Treviso, NIKON, Venetian Academy of Fine Arts, European Institute of Design (IED).
The Prize is subdivided in three sections: painting, photographic art, sculpture. Participants can chose the theme of their artworks.
ART. 2 – Eligible media
The Prize is open to all artists, without any limits of age, sex, nationality or other qualification. Each artist can participate with one or two works, at one or more sections. Technical details:
Painting – total technical and stylistic freedom (oil, tempera, acrylic, ink, vinyl, watercolor, graphite, pencil, collage, etc.) on whichever support (canvas, paper, wood, plastics, iron, etc.).
The max dimensions allowed per each works are 150x150 cm, picture frame included.
Sculpture and installation – whichever organic or inorganic material. Works can make use of sounds, lights, videos, mechanical or electrical movements. The max dimensions allowed per each works are: base 4 mtr, depth 4 mtr, height 4 mtr, weight 150 kg.
The art installation author, in case of being selected fot the finalists collective exhibition, will have to supply the price organization with the necessary materials in order to display the artwork, and personally supervise the installation.
Photographic Art - color and b/w analogical photos, color and b/w digital photos, color and b/w digital elaborations, works entirely realized on computer. Videos are not admitted. The max dimensions allowed per each works are 150x150 cm.
ART. 3 – Jury
The selection of the artworks will be carried out by 3 Juries composed by experts of Contemporary Art:

Sculpture - President of the Jury: Igor Zanti (art critic), Jurors: Alessandro Trabucco (art critic), Viviana Siviero (art critic), Lorenzo Respi (Curator of the Arnaldo Pomodoro Foundation, Milan)

BUSINESS FOR ART PRIZES
Special Prize “Tenuta Sant’Anna Art Collection”: 5.000euro* and reproduction of the 2 selected artworks on the bottle labels of 2 lines of prestigious wines, produced in limited edition. The participation is open to all the artists who register at the PAINTING SECTION with 2 artworks.

Personal exhibitions will be comprehensive of arrangement, opening and press releases. Each Gallery will take care of the arrangement, organization and advertisement on the expositions. Each artist will take care of the round-trip transportation costs and of any insurances. All the artworks will remain the propriety of the Artists. Each Gallery will agree with the Artists the rate of the commission on the eventual selling price. Arte Laguna will take care of the arrangement of a virtual gallery at www.artelagunaprize.com where will be exposed some pictures of each artist’s artworks and personal biography.
COLLECTIVE EXPOSITIONS PRIZES
Special Prize CATCH BY THE EYE – London
Selection of one artists for the participation in the collective exposition organized by Magdalena Rutkovska in occasion of “Catch by the Eye, save in the heart 2010”, an high quality International project of emergent contemporary art
ITALIAN INSTITUTE OF CULTURE – Wien
ITALIAN INSTITUTE OF CULTURE – Prague
A synthesis of the collective exposition of the finalist artists will be exhibited in Wien (Austria) and in Prague (Czech Republic) at the Italian Institute of Culture, two of the 90 Italian Institutes displaced around the world.
ART. 5 - Application
The application fee for the partial support of the organization expenses is of 40,00 euro per 1 work and 70,00 euro per 2 works proposed for the same section (see art.6). Application fees are no-refundable. For students under 25 years who are attending art schools or Academy of Fine Arts the shareholding is 35,00 euro per 1 work and 60,00 euro per 2 works proposed for the same section (school certificate is required). Artists that register to works at the painting section can participate without any additional charge at the Special Prize “Tenuta Sant’Anna Art Collection”.
Artists must keep a copy of the payment. Application fees are no-refundable.
ART. 6 - Conditions of participation
All the Artists can enter for the Prize within
26th November 2009 for by mail applications (postmark)
9th December 2009 for on-line applications
1) On-line: by filling in the form at www.artelagunaprize.com after the payment of the application fee.
2) per post or by means of hand-carry delivery at Arte Laguna - Via Roma, 29/A - 31021 Mogliano V.to (TV) - ITALY of the following material: filled out application module (downloadable at www.artelagunaprize.com), short biography, picture of the works (minimum size: 15x20 cm; maximum size: 20 x 30) with indication on the back of name, surname, country, title, dimensions (base x height), technique, year, copy of the payment of the application fee. The documentation and the photos won’t be given back.
The payment of the application fee can be made:

ART.7 – Selection modality
The Jury will select 40 finalist artworks per section. The first selection will be made on the base of the pictures sent at the moment of the registration.
Ones selected, artists will be asked to send their artwork for the final voting. The Juries will select 30 artworks per section and they will arrange the collective exposition of the finalist artists, that will be exhibited from 6th to 27th March 2010 at the Venetian Arsenale. In the same period, some more works will be exposed at the Romanian Institute of Culture in Venice.
The names of the winners of the Prize will be communicated on 6th March, 2010 in occasion of the Opening of the Collective exposition.
Arte Laguna will take care of the arrangement and organization of the collective expositions. Each artist will take care of the round-trip transportation costs and of any insurances.
ART. 8 – Responsabilities
The organization, by assuring the greatest care and custody of the works, refuses all responsibility in case of thefts, fire or any damages to whichever painting or person that could occur during the event. Any insurance request will be supported by the Artists. Each Artist must keep itself informed about the developments of the Prize, that will be constantly published at www.artelagunaprize.com. The organization will send its mailing list all the pertinent communications. We invite all the Artists to give the organization a real e-mail address and to daily read the post.
ART. 9 – Agreement
the decisions of the commission are irrevocable. The awarded Artists have the right to give the prizes up without asking Arte Laguna any kind of compensation. In that case the award will be re-assigned according to the classifications drafted by the Juries. Each Artist gives Arte Laguna the right of replication of the works and text for the realization of the Catalogue, the archive of entries, the publication on-line of the artworks and other forms of communication and/or organization activities. Each Artist gives the Cultural Association MoCA and Arte Laguna the authorization to the treatment of the personal data according to the law on the privacy (Legislative Decree n° 675/96 and n° 196/2003). The participation to the prize implies the knowledge and the total acceptance of this regulation.
Special Prize “Tenuta S. Anna Art Collection” – Details
Tenuta S. Anna, Genagricola S.p.a. Group, offers the “Tenuta S. Anna Art Collection” special prize, which is reserved to the artists that register with 2 artworks to the Painting section. The theme of this special prize is “Colors of the Earth”. Artists can participate with the same works of the main contest or present two other art pieces. The president will be joined by some members of the farm for the selection of the art pieces that will be reproduced of the bottle-labels of Tenuta S.Anna’s most prestigious wines.
The author of the selected artworks will receive a 5.000 euro cash prize. Artworks will remain the propriety of the Artist, accepting Tenuta S. Anna’s pre-emption right for 5 years in case of sale.
Tenuta S.Anna get the right to publish the artworks - in full or partially - on wine labels and/or other materials for commercial, promotional purposes. By subscribing this regulation, artists authorize Tenuta S.Anna to use their images, by renouncing to any rights (royalties included).
Deadline for Tenuta S.Anna Special Prize is 30th September, 2009.
