Entries to the eighth edition of Arte Laguna Prize will close soon, and the deadline is November 26th. Artists still have a few days to submit their works to one of the five sections of the contest: painting, sculpture and installation, video art and performance, photographic art, virtual and digital art.
Anyone is eligible to enter, regardless of age or nationality.

A high number of awards are available, and in addtion to 5 cash prizes for a total of 35,000 Euros (7,000 Euros for each section), artists can win one of the 4 special prizes "Artist in gallery", which include grants of 500 Euros to organize personal exhibitions at the international galleries in Russia (ART re.FLEX, Saint Petersburg), France (Galerie Charlot, Paris), Portugal (Carlos Carvalho, Lisbon), and India (Exhibit320, New Delhi); the screening in Beijing of the 10 finalist artist videos in summer 2014, thanks to the collaboration with Art Nova 100; and finally the exhibition of a work from the sculpture and installation section at Venice Lido during the Venice Film Festival, for the event Open 2014.
Artist who entered by October 2013 are also eligible for the special prizes Art Residencies and for the collaboration with the company Riva1920. The winners will be announced during the opening of the exhibition at the Arsenal of Venice.

All the finalist works will be on view in March 2014 at 3 exhibitions in Venice: the main one will be mounted, as has been in recent years, at the Arsenal, the "temple of contemporary art"; the Telecom Italia Future Centre will host the virtual and digital art section; while a special selection of younger (Under25) artists will be on view at the Romanian Institute, located in one of the most popular areas of the city.

All the works that have been submitted will be judged by 10 names of the international art panorama: Enrico Bettinello (Italy, Director of Teatro Fondamenta Nuove), Silvia Ferri de Lazara (Italy, Director of Fondazione March), Victoria Lu (China, Creative Director of the Museum of Contemporary Art of Taiwan), Domenico Quaranta (Italy, Critic and Curator), Veeranganakumari Solanki (India, Independent curator and Art writer), Miguel Amado (Portugal, Curator of the Portuguese Pavilion at the 2013 Venice Biennale), Sabrina Van Der Ley (Norway, Contemporary Art Department at Nasjonalmuseet in Oslo), Andrea Viliani (Italy, Director of Museum MADRE in Naples), Jonathan Watkins (Great Britain, Director of Ikon Gallery), Claudia Zanfi (Italy, Art Historian and Cultural Manager) together with the curator of the prize since its first edition, Igor Zanti.

Starting this year, the Prize's offer has been further implemented thanks to the collaboration with Telecom Italia, through the introduction of Innovative Interactive Tour on Telecom Italia’s Future Centre, a special prize conceived for artists, designers and architects, who are asked to send a project proposal aimed at the enhancement and artistic-tourist fruition of the architecture of the former convent of San Salvador in Venice, which currently hosts the Telecom Italia Future Centre. The prize consists in 5,000 Euros that will be used to finalize the project.
