TraVellArT, exhibition project curated by Paolo De Grandis and Carlotta Scarpa and organized by PDG Arte Communications, presents Alchimia, the solo exhibition by the Sicilian photographer Miriam Nicastro, winner of the PDG Arte Communications Prize of the 12th Arte Laguna Prize.

TraVellArT is a project conceived for the spaces of the historic Hotel Savoia & Jolanda in Venice and includes a series of exhibitions inspired by the theme of travel.
Miriam Nicastro (Enna Italy, 1966) travels continuously searching for images, looking at the world through her Reflex. Alchimia is a journey through the cities loved by Miriam, a selection of strictly black and white travel photos capturing glimpses, details and architectural visions. The use of black and white is a precise stylistic choice, which allows Miriam to translate her expressive intentions into images, longing for a "pure" form of the image, without any chromatic distractions, that results in a more authentic expression of reality.
In Miriam’s works, human presence, sometimes imposing and sometimes hidden, is essential because it makes a space alive. These photos are both instantaneous and expected "with the patience of a spider", and the perspective and the play of light and shadow give back a representation, sometimes abstract, sometimes intensely lived, of the urban space.

Alchimia is a perfect combination of instinct and rationality, developing at the exact moment of the shot.

ALCHIMIA from 31.08 to 30.09.2018 at Hotel Savoia & Jolanda - opening 30.08.2018 at 6.30 pm. .
