From the synergy between the Arte Laguna Prize, the Archives of Sustainability at Ca' Foscari University of Venice and Comieco (National Consortium for the Salvage and Recycling of Cellulose-based Packaging), stems the competition that awards the creative ideas enhancing the RRR strategies - Reuse, Reduce, Recycle - of paper, cardboard and cellulose materials.
You can submit a project or an existing work themed RRR Paper. The prize is open to both the fields of art and design, therefore painters, sculptors, designers, photographers, video artists and performers are invited to apply.

Artists and designers can submit a project for each special collaboration. Winners will be selected by 5 specific commissions. Assessment will be based on the creativity and originality of the submissions and on their ability to interpret the theme and guidelines assigned by the company.

AWARDS CEREMONY

    The special Prize dedicated to Art and Sustainability is part of the 13th International Arte Laguna Prize.
    The prize is promoted and created in collaboration with Ca' Foscari Sostenibile of Ca’ Foscari University of Venice, and for this year it is realized with the support of Corepla (National Consortium for the Collection and Recycling of Plastic packages).
    To participate, it is required the presentation of works, products and art projects including design, photography, video art and performance, etc. which enhance plastic and plastic packagings as part of the RRR strategies (Reuse, Recycle, Reduce).

    The jurors of this special prize will be:
    - Igor Zanti art curator and head of the Arte Laguna Prize jury
    - one or more representatives of Corepla
    - one representative of Ca’ Foscari Sostenibile


    Corepla (National Consortium for the Collection and Recycling of Plastic packages)
    Corepla is the national consortium for the collection, recycling and recovery of plastic packages, established in accordance with law decree 22/97 and currently regulated by Law Decree 152/06.

    With approximately 2.600 member companies belonging to the plastic packaging supply chain (producers of plastic material, producers of plastic packaging, users who self-produce their packaging, companies that recycle or recover plastic packaging waste), Corepla guarantees that the plastic packagings collected in 7,000 Italian Municipalities are recycled and recovered with efficiency, effectiveness and economy.

    Communication is part of the Consortium's institutional aims, which is committed to foster a culture of responsibility and civic engagement concerning the management of plastic packaging waste. For this purpose, the creation of the Special Prize represents a moment of further awareness, as well as an opportunity for Corepla to turn to an art capable of enhancing the properties, energy and intelligence of plastic, stimulating the creation of networks and opportunities among artists, businesses, territories and citizens.

    Ca' Foscari University of Venice
    Since 2010 Ca' Foscari University of Venice, through the Ca' Foscari Sostenibile program, has been promoting sustainability, including it as a perspective within all the University's activities.
    Every year Ca' Foscari is committed to encourage actions and behaviors that reduce the impact of the university on the environment and natural resources, and to promote community welfare, social equity and economic development.
    Moreover, the Venetian University creates engagement projects for internal stakeholders and for the entire community, involving diverse subjects - local, national and international - in order to promote the dissemination of a model of sustainable development, through the exchange of best practices and the union of different scientific and operational skills.
    Since 2013 Ca' Foscari develops the theme of Art and Sustainability, working with national and international institutions for the realization of projects that emphasize the connection between sustainability and art. Among these is the Arte Laguna Prize which, through art, aims to raise awareness within the local and international community to the issues of sustainability, specifically enhancing the RRR strategies (Reuse, Recycle, Reduce) with a focus on the recovery and valorization of plastic.

    The special Prize dedicated to Art and Sustainability is part of the 12th International Arte Laguna Prize. The contest is promoted and ideated in collaboration with Archivi della Sostenibilità (Sustainability Archives), Ca’ Foscari University of Venice, and it is realised with the support of CoReVe (Glass Recovery Consortium).
    To participate, the contest requires a presentation of works or products and artistic projects including design, photography, video art, performance, etc which enhance glass as part of the RRR strategies (Reuse, Recycle, Reduce).

    The jurors of this project will be:
    - Igor Zanti art curator and head of the Arte Laguna Prize jury
    - one or more representatives of CoReVe
    - one representatives of Archivi della Sostenibilità (Sustainability Archives), Ca’ Foscari University, Venice

    CoReVe is the non-profit Consortium that aims to achieve the goals of recycling and recovery of glass packaging waste produced in Italy. It has been established on 23rd October 1997 by the main glass companies in compliance with the Legislative Decree 22/97 to organize the recovery of the glass waste which come from the separate collection, in order to set up the guidelines for the prevention activities and to ensure the recycling of recovered glass. In particular CoReVe deals with information about recycling and glass recovery issues which are useful for citizens and it organizes the specific prevention plan with the guidelines to reach the recycling goals.
    The Consortium considers the communication activities for citizens extremely important, as citizens are the protagonists of the waste separate collection. According to this concept, the ideation of the special prize wants to create another occasion for the recycling awareness.
    The works’ originality and effect will be important as they have to represent the glass features, a material that is the circular economy’s perfect representation.
