ART. 1 - GOALS
The Cultural Association MoCA organizes the 12th Edition of the International Arte Laguna Prize, aimed at promoting and enhancing Contemporary Art.
The Prize obtained a medal from the President of the Italian Republic, with the patronage of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Tourism, the Veneto Region, the Municipality of Venice, Ca' Foscari University of Venice and the European Institute of Design among others.
The contest features the awarding of cash prizes, the organization of a major collective exhibition at the Arsenale of Venice, exhibitions in international Art Galleries, collaborations with Companies, Art Residencies and the publication of the Catalogue.
The Prize includes nine sections: painting, sculpture and installation, photographic art, video art and short films, performance, virtual art, digital graphics, land art and urban art.

 
ART. 2 - TECHNIQUES
The Prize is open to all Artists, with no restrictions of age, sex, nationality or any other qualifications. Each artist can participate with one or more artworks, also in more than one section. Artworks may have been previously exhibited. The theme is free. Below the technical details:
Painting
works made with technical and stylistic freedom (oil, tempera, acrylic, ink, vinyl, watercolor, graphite, pencil, collage, prints of different kind, etc.) on any support (canvas, paper, wood, plastics, iron, etc.). The maximum size allowed is 175 cm per side.
Sculpture and Installation
works created with any organic or inorganic material, they can include sounds, lights, videos, mechanical or electrical movements. The maximum size allowed is: base 4 meters, depth 4 meters, height 8 meters and there are no weight limits. Works that require a set-up in dark rooms must be adaptable to the available exhibition space.
Photographic Art
photographs on analog or digital support, photos including digital elaborations. The maximum size allowed is 175 cm per side.
Video Art and Short films
videos, films, slow motion, time-lapse photgraphy made with any animation techniques on any digital and analog support, cinematographic, promotional, graphic computer short films. Maximum duration 15 minutes. For the subscription, the file video must be uploaded online and it must not exceed 500 mb.
Performance
performances made by one or more artists, using any technique, expressive form and with the use of any support materials provided by the artist. Finalist artists will perform live during the opening night, in a version which does not exceed 10 minutes.
Virtual Art
works entirely created using the computer or digital applications and devices: videos, installations, performances in which the use of digital media plays a key role in the creative process and content; net art, software, interactive devices, videogames, augmented reality projects, rapid prototyping, etc.The works featuring an installation will have to be adaptable to the exhibition space available.
Digital Graphics
images and works of digital painting generated or edited using a computer, tablet, smarthphone, or applications where the technological intervention is predominant. The finalist works will be set up on a monitor or printed on a two-dimensional support with a maximum size 175 cm per side.
Environmental / Land Art - With the support of Arte Sella
works or projects environmental and land art in which the artistic intervention interacts with the environment it has been created for. There are no restrictions in terms of the choice of the specific environment. The projects have to value nature and its features and more in general the environment or the landscape in which they are placed. The finalist works will be exhibited with explicative panels.
Urban Art
works or projects of urban art, enhancement, street art and graffiti, in which the artistic intervention interacts with the urban area has been thought for, using any technique (spray paint, artistic stickers, stencils, projections, videos, installations, etc…). There are no restrictions about the artistic intervention site. The finalist works will be exhibited with explicative panels.

 
ART. 3 - JURY
The selection of the submitted artworks will be made by an international jury composed of 11 members subdivided into the contest categories.

ARTIST IN GALLERY PRIZES
Realization of 3 personal exhibitions in international Art Galleries including: set-up, grant of € 500* and a dedicated digital catalogue.

Reserved to the artists who pass the first selection.

PRIZE SUSTAINABILITY AND ART
Development of creative projects to support sustainability.

Reserved to artists who submit at least 2 works to the same section

ARS (Art Reuse Sustainability) of glass
Prize of 3,000 Euro for the winning project
Submission of works, products and art projects including design, photography, video art and performance, etc. which enhance glass as part of the RRR strategies (Reuse, Recycle, Reduce).
Promoted and developed with the Archives of Sustainability, Cà Foscari University of Venice; made with the support of CoReVe (Consortium for the glass recovery).


ARTIST IN RESIDENCE PRIZES
Art Residency program in Italy and abroad in order to provide a space and time to live the experience of a new culture, create new works and participate in new activities in a multicultural environment.

Reserved to artists who submit at least 2 works to the same section

San Francisco Art Residency, San Francisco USA
Art Residency for 1 month + final exhibition
The residency includes: Tech Shop membership package (1 month membership + 4 premium classes) to access industrial tools and equipment to improve skills and build new projects, accommodation, logistics support, final exhibition.

The Art Department - Casa dell’Arte International Artists' Residency, Bodrum Turkey
Art residency from 2 to 8 weeks + final exhibition
The residency includes: round trip flight ticket, accommodation and meals, studio, materials, logistics support, final exhibition at Casa dell'Arte.
The works made during the residency will remain the property of the artist.

GLO'ART, Lanaken Belgium
Art residency from 1 to 12 weeks + final exhibition
The residency includes: travel expenses, accommodation, work spaces, materials, logistics support, scholarship of 250 Euro per week, final exhibition at the GLO'ART centre.
The works made during the residency will remain the property of GLO'ART.

Espronceda, Barcelona Spain
Art Residency from 3 to 6 weeks + final exhibition
The residency includes: accommodation, curatorial assistance, studio, support for materials, final exhibition or another public activity, involvement in the activities realized by the art centre.

Basu Foundation for the Arts, Kolkata India
Art Residency for 1 month + final exhibition
The residency includes: board and lodging, studio, curatorial assistance on site, introduction into the Indian cultural scene, a grant for the creation of the works.
One of the works created will remain the property of Basu Foundation for the Arts.

Artistic Serigraphy Fallani, Venice Italy
Art Residency for 10 days for 3 artists + realization of the silk screen-printing work + open day
The residency includes: accommodation, assistance, realization of a silk screen-printing work in 50 copies (25 for the artist, 25 for the Partner).

Farm Cultural Park, Favara Italy
Art residency of 10 days + final exhibition
The residency includes: accommodation, studio, curatorial assistance on site, logistics support.

Arte Sella, Trentino Italy
Art residency of 10 days + ideation of a site specific project for Val di Sella
The residency includes: board and lodging, assistance on site, a grant for the journey up to maximum 1000 Euro. The project created during the residency could be produced at Arte Sella discretion.

The Swatch Art Peace Hotel, Shanghai China
Art residency from 3 to 6 months + final exhibition
The residency includes: journey, accommodation and breakfast, logistics support, workshops, involvement in the local artistic scene and in all the activities related to The Swatch Art Peace Hotel (exhibitions, catalogues, website). An artistic “trace” will be given to The Swatch Art Peace Hotel and it will be included in international exhibitions during and after the residency.

Murano Glass ArtResidency, Venice Italy
Art residency of 1 month + creation of the work in glass
The residency includes: accommodation, round trip journey from artist’s residence for a maximum of 1000 Euro, scholarship of 500 Euro, realization of the project with the master glassmakers.

Maradiva Cultural Residency, Flic-en-Flac Mauritius
Cultural residency of 1 month at Maradiva Villas Resort in collaboration with Basu Foundation.
The residency includes: journey, accommodation at the touristic resort Maradiva, logistics support, studio, involvement in the local artistic scene, final exhibition.


BUSINESS FOR ART PRIZES
Collaborations with companies meant to connect creativity with craftsmanship.

Reserved to artists who submit at least 2 works to the same section.

Zanetto Craftsmanship, Padua Italy
Prize of 2.000 Euro for the winning product design and realization of the project.
Presentation of a new product design for the realization of a vase which will contain at least a noble metal sheet.

International collaborations with Festivals and Organizations to create a network where artists, visibility, and new projects meet.

Art Nova 100, Beijing China
Exhibition of the 10 finalist videos in Summer 2018
The collective exhibition will be organized as one of the activities carried out by the platform for the promotion of international artists in China.

Art Stays Festival, Ptuj Slovenia
Participation in the Festival and 7-day stay
The participation includes: accommodation, board, studio, logistics support, curatorial assistance. One of the artworks will enter the Festival's collection.

Open International Exhibition of Sculptures and Installations, Venice Italy
Participation in the exhibition for 1 month
The international exhibition takes place outdoors, during the Venice Film Festival.
The participation includes: curatorial assistance and insertion into the related catalogue.


FINALISTS EXHIBITIONS
The 115 finalist artists selected by the international jury will participate in the major collective exhibition which will take place in Venice in March 2018.
The prestigious venue of the Arsenale will host the exhibition of 30 works of painting, 25 sculptures and installations, 25 works of photographic art, 10 videos, 5 land art works, 5 works of urban art, 5 works of virtual art, 5 works of digital graphics, 5 performances.
The exhibition will be accompanied by a bilingual catalogue. All the finalist works, included those ones which will be awarded the money prizes, will remain the artists property.

 
ART. 5 - ENTRY FEE
For the partial support of the organization expenses, the entry fee is 55.00 Euro for 1 work and 50.00 Euro for every additional work (submitted to the same section).
For under-25 artists the entry fee is 50.00 Euro for 1 work and 45.00 Euro for every additional work (submitted to the same section) with the obligation to attach a copy of the artist’s ID card in the subscription.
Artists must keep a copy of the payment. The entry fee is not refundable.

 
ART. 6 - CONDITIONS OF PARTICIPATION

By sending in an envelope or delivering to the Head Office of the Prize (ARTE LAGUNA - Via Roma, 29/A - 31021 Mogliano Veneto (TV) - Italy):
- the application form
- a short biographical statement
- a picture of each work (minimum size: 15x20 cm - maximum size: 20x30cm) including artist’s name and surname, country, title, size, technique, year on the back side of the picture
- a copy of the payment of the entry fee.
The documentation (photographs included) will not be returned to the artist.
For the selection's process, the videos sent on DVD will be uploaded in a private password-protected Youtube account.

The first selection will be made taking into consideration the photos of the works. Do not send the work. If the subscription includes material that is obscene, slanderous or that may affect the visitor’s sensitivity, the Cultural Association MoCA reserves the right to remove it in whole or in part.

ART. 7 - SELECTION PROCESS
The jurors of the different sections will evaluate the works taking into considerations the international contemporary art features and according to qualitative criteria, research and technical ability. The jury could evaluate all the submitted material.
The Awarding Jury will make the first selection choosing 200 or more artists, which will be admitted to the second selection.
The artists, who will pass the first selection, will be asked to send an e-mail with a focused dossier with max. 10 works to participate in the final selection of the 115 works, which will be exhibited in the prestigious venue of the Arsenale of Venice.
The winners of the Artist in Residence prizes, Sustainability and Art prize, Business for Art prize will be selected by each partner among those ones who will have sent the related subscription. The winners of the Artist in Gallery prizes and of Festivals and Exhibitions prizes will be selected by each partner among those who will pass the first selection.
The selections results will be announced online on the website www.artelagunaprize.com
The proclamation of the overall winners and of all the prizes will take place during the inauguration of the finalist artists exhibition. The set-up and the organization of the exhibition at the Arsenale of Venice will be done by the Italian Cultural association MoCA. The transportation costs (round trip) and the possible artworks insurance costs will be at the expense of each artist.

The decisions of the Awarding Juries are irrevocable and unquestionable.

 
ART. 8 - RESPONSIBILITIES
Cultural Association MoCA while guaranteeing the greatest care and custody of the works, will not be liable for any thefts, fires or any damages to the artworks or people that could occur during all the stages of the event. Any insurance request is the responsibility of the Artists.
Cultural Association MoCA reserves the right to modify these “Terms and Conditions”, if it is necessary.

 
ART. 9 - AGREEMENT
The awarded artists have the right to renounce the prizes, but without asking any kind of compensation, in that case the prize will be re-assigned according to the ranking made by the jury. Each artist has the rights to the images and to the submitted works but gives to the Cultural Association MoCA, without any compensation, the rights of reproduction, exhibition, publication, translation and communication to the public, in any manner and without exception, for their works and for the texts participating in the selection. The Cultural Association MoCA while fully respecting the moral rights of the author, will exercise these rights for all institutional activities of communication concerning the competition. Each candidate gives to the Cultural Association MoCA, as well as to its direct representatives, the authorization to the treatment of personal data according to the Law 675/96 (“Privacy law”) and to its following changes in the Legislative Decree 196/2003 (Privacy Code) also for data entry into data banks managed by the subjects mentioned above. The participation in the Prize implies the subscription as a member to the Cultural Association MoCA, the complete acceptance of its charter and of the Arte Laguna Prize regulations.
